FILING THE GREEN CARD

The next process is the filing of the Green Card. The time from which the nurses’ papers are filled to the time the nurse gets the final interview date, we estimate should take anywhere from 8-12 months.

Step 10

The nurse completes the ETA9089 application and the client files for the I-140 petition. This Employment base petition for an alien worker in the skilled category is filed through one of the several Service Centers in the US. The nurse then awaits an approval of the employment petition from the USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services).

Step 11

After the approval, the entire case is transferred to the NVC (National Visa Center). A team of top attorneys and visa specialist file for the next stage of the Green Card. The fee for the visa is US$380 for nurse and each dependent in their family.

Step 12

The nurse waits for the packet 3 from the NVC and completes the DS230 forms. Packet 3 consists of a set of documents and instructions to help prepare the nurse for the exit interview.

Step13

After the case is NVC complete, it is transferred to the US Consulate in India. The nurse receives the Packet 4 from the consulate and a set of instructions on the documents needed for the Exit Interview. Once the Green Card is approved, the nurse is assisted to complete all formalities and is made ready to travel to join the hospitals in the US.
